Left unattended, unpleasant things can happen to a vacant home; water leaks quickly cause major damage that can be very costly to repair. Unfortunately, unattended homes are also targets for thieves and vandalism.
The Navajo County Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers will walk around your home at least once a week looking for broken windows, doors ajar, any recent signs of damage or vandalism and anything out of the ordinary, in the winter we look for signs of winter damages. At any time one of our SAV’s suspects damages or anything out of the ordinary the home owner or their emergency contact is notified right away. In case of any emergency a Sheriff’s deputy is called to the home.
We also pick up phone books, papers and things tossed into the driveway and put these items in an inconspicuous place so it doesn’t look like the home is vacant or unattended; after all, you just want to return and find your home the same as when you left.
A quarterly report indicating the date of inspection, time, officers badge number and any comments the office may make about his/her inspection of your property is provided as part of the House Watch service.
The Navajo County Sheriff's Auxiliary Volunteers (SAV) is proud to have over 1000 private homes and several businesses on its list of customers to patrol. Let us give you a little peace of mind. Donations for these services are not required but are greatly appreciated.
